After the grand success of the media students gathering "SAHAYATRA", it's time to take a next step. Since, we all students and teachers of the same discipline are united; our individual efforts if brought together can only show its strength. I am basically focused on " सहयात्रा - आमसञ्चार विशेष मासिक".  a monthly newspaper that is going to be published by the SAHAYATRA network. 1.       When will be this newsletter published?
- This newsletter is will be published at the interval of 1 month. It will be circulated throughout the mass communication colleges in Kathmandu Valley and Kavre district and later all over the Nepal. The first issue will be published in Shrawan 22, 2067 B.S. This date is tentative.

2.       What will be major news content of this newsletter?
- It will emphasize the news that take place in different colleges that have participated in SAHAYATRA program held in June 6, 2010 and also those who will to be the part of this network. Any interested Students and Teachers with their clear identification can send their news, articles, letter to the editor at mediasahayatra2010@gmail.com to get their views published that will be helpful for all the media Students.

SAHAYATRA in Kanya Campus

The third meeting of executive committee of SAHAYATRA, an intercollege media students' network took place at Kanya Campus on June 26, 2010 at Dillibazaar Kanya Campus, Dillibazaar. Bhola Nath Regmi, the Campus Chief expressed his few words of encouragement for the betterment of the network and committed that Kanya Campus will always cooperate with Sahayatra. Amol Acharya, the president of the network directed necessary formalities to be accomplished by the executive members regarding the completion of Code of Conduct of the network. The meeting also decided to organize the media Quiz contest in Shrawan 22, 2067 B.S. Samjhana Basnet, member of Sahayatra as well as the student of the Dillibazar Kanya Campus felicitated the meeting by arranging necessary infrastructures.

A short interaction programme was organised by Department of Language and Mass communication, Kathmandu University on June 25, 2010 at department building in Dhulikhel. The main objectives of the programme were the interaction between the mass communication departments of both KU and Bagiswori College and address over the queries regarding the readability research directed by Asst. Prof Nirmala Mani Adhikary of Department of Languages and Mass Communication, KU.

Sahayatra Meeting II june 19, 2010

The second meeting of Sahayatra executive committee was held on june 19, 2010. The meeting was centrally focused on making the code of conduct of the network. The meeting among the publication committe members conclued with the editorial policy of the newspaper. They came up with the idea of producing 12 page newspaper of tabloid size. The next meeting is scheduled for jUne 26, 2010, Saturday in Dillibazar Kanya Campus.

1. How is your Teaching Experience in this Mass Communication Discipline?
I started teaching journalism at university level 8 years ago. Teaching has always remained a matter of pride for me. Many peopel still do not see media teaching a full time career. Yet, I do. It really gives me a thrilling experience -the efforts to attract someone towards media profession by means of teaching.
2. What opportunities do you see for the students studying this Media Discipline?

I began my teaching career since 1993 after my intermediate degree, and till date it is an appendage to me. During my one and half decades long teaching journey, I was an English teacher taught from primary level to Masters degree in the first half; in the second, I have taught various subjects of mass communication and journalism (MCJ) in different levels.

Media: Boundless opportunities and Challenges

Whether it is an education or a profession, media have no boundary, opines different media educators and working journalist of Nepal. According to them, opportunities and challenges travel in parallel to any Media Venture.

Opportunities in Media
According to the latest update, there are 2866 newspapers registered, 379 licenses issued for radios and 31 licenses issued for television till the date; similarly, 848 newspapers are regular, 231 radio stations are on air and more than a dozen of televisions have begun their everyday job. Just imagine, how many station managers news editors, reporters, program presenters are required in this country, says Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, who is the author of several books in journalism.

Report on Sahayatra's pre-gathering event

The pre-gathering session of forming the Media Student network i.e "SAHAYATRA" concluded at the Russian Culture Center, Kamalpokhari amidst the rigorous participation of more than 22 Colleges providing media education in Nepal. The initiative of establishing this students’ network was taken by Media Studies Group of Kathmandu University.
